Finally…

The sun has finally decided to grace us unfortunate residents of the Midwest and it appears as if Spring is finally here. The girls are swinging on the set in the back. The smell of meat and smoke rises from the grill. Baseball is on the radio and a turkey tag in my pocket means I’ll be chasing birds before I know it.

The old foam block target in my yard has a fresh face courtesy of an old six-pack carrier and half-roll of duct tape, meaning my bows are out of their socks for the remainder of the year. The firewood has been collected, the tents and stoves stacked neatly in a corner for quick retrieval, and new sleeping bags have been purchased. The first MLA camping adventure is right around the corner and the Viau family prepared.

The trees are budding once again. The grass is greening up and everything smells fresh and new – even if it does stink a bit and make you sneeze on occasion. The seasonal ales of Michigan’s finest breweries are gracing the taps of the local watering holes and I am convinced they’ve never tasted this sweet.

I’ve got things to do, people to meet, and arrows to shoot and can’t wait to begin. May you empty your quivers daily and fill your hearts with the warmth of a new year.
